First things first, you wont go anywhere without good content!

- Planning out good content is a great start
The first step in creating a new site using a clone script is to give it something that other related sites do not have already. If you don’t know this already, search engines love content. Keyword rich content. Search engines match your potential users queries with your keywords in your meta tags plus those that are emphasized on page as well. Create a home page that is findable.
Keywords – This part takes a lot of time, and is without a doubt the hardest thing about being a webmaster. There are plenty of tools and free software out there that will allow you to do keyword research, the one that I recommend is Market Samurai and Google’s Keyword Tool. Part of finding the right keywords is about understanding your audience. If you are creating an image host, not everyone is going to Google “image host”, as that is a more technical term. You may find that the best keywords are “upload an image”, or “Online Photo Album”, but in all honesty, it is a matter of researching which keywords in that niche are getting more responses from the search engines, and which ones directly relate to your content. Don’t forget to repeat your main keywords as close to the top of the page as possible, as this will in most cases result in better visibility.
Articles – If this refers to your use of a clone script, articles are a great way to create interest in your site. If you are using advertising in order to monetize your site, do not be afraid to to create multiple page posts and index them on the front page. The more views, the more you will earn, and the more engaged your readers will become. Create keyword rich articles that relate to your sites main content, and you will always be a step ahead. The trick with articles is to find a way to keep your readers engaged, promote these articles on all social networks and article directories, and most importantly, drive traffic to that one article. Even write a free press release.
Affiliates – One very underestimated tool is the use of affiliates. These can be used in order to compliment your website’s main content. If you are running a social networking site for web designers, why not use affiliate marketing banners from a web host that you trust and have used? Its easy to say that you will be able to run AdSense ads on your page, but how successful are these ads in targeting your audience based on keywords, and how often will you see an ad on your web designing blog that refers to web design in some way? Not very often. There are plenty of great affiliate programs out there, some of these with higher payouts, some with less payout figures, and your success with these programs can in part be a direct result of how well you market them. I put affiliates under content, as I personally think that affiliates that are related to your site content are much more effective than running AdSense ads.
